Trans Day of Remembrance
November 20th, marks Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR), as it is a day to remember the lives that have been lost due to discrimination.
Those who are transgender or gender non-conforming, experience systemic discrimination in housing, employment, healthcare, and more. These experiences have consequences, such as forming into trauma, making it common to participate in sex work, and drug use in order to survive and/or cope.
Among folks who use drugs, those who identify as part of the 2LGBTQIA+ community, have shown to be more likely to experience substance poisoning. This is why it is important to advocate for transgender rights, and that all harm reduction services become trans-inclusive.
